If you're considering having concrete removed first it's good to make sure that is the best option. If you're concrete driveway, walkway, or patio is cracking would it be more effective and less expensive to repair the cracks or just to remove it altogether and start over? Here are some important questions to help decide: Are there a lot of cracks or just a few? How big are the cracks? If they are relatively small it may be better to repair them, if they are wide and uneven with one side sunken farther than the other it is probably best not to waste money fixing a problem that will just reoccur and to go ahead and remove and replace the concrete.
When considering removing concrete it is best to understand why your concrete is damaged so you can avoid that issue in the future. Concrete settlement is one of the most common reasons concrete needs to be removed. Concrete "settles" when the soil underneath it changes shape, and leaves unwanted gaps for concrete to sink or "settle" into. The most common causes of this are when bed soil is washed out or eroded, or when the soil underneath dries which causes it to shrink, both of these cause unwanted space underneath concrete. We'll determine what is damaging your concrete so we can address the issue if you need new concrete to replace the damaged concrete. On all of our jobs removing concrete we always thoroughly clean the around the job site to make sure that no construction related materials are left behind, we wouldn't want that to happen at our own homes so we make sure everything is clean when we're done. |
